Certified Basic Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
This course combines the physics and science of fiber optics with instruction
on optical fiber transmission, cable construction, safety codes and industry
standards. Attendees will terminate multimode ST and SC connectors and test
their work. Attendees will be introduced to mechanical and fusion splicing and
the OTDR. At the conclusion a written exam is administered. This course is a
prerequisite for the Advanced Fiber Optic Technician course.
Certified Advanced Fiber Optic Technician (AFOT)
This course is designed for qualified technicians who desire more hands-on
practical experience. Attendees will install fan-out kits on indoor/outdoor
cable and build a multimode LAN using SC connectors then test the network
using an OLTS and OTDR. Attendees will perform mechanical and fusion
splicing. At the conclusion a written exam is administered. The prerequisite
for this course is a current CFOT designation.
Combined Basic (CFOT) and Advanced (AFOT) Fiber Optic Training
This course is designed for technicians desiring to take the Basic and
Advanced courses in one sitting in order to maximize their knowledge, earning
potential, and to save training costs. Attendees are put through an intensive
21-hour training program with lots of hands-on learning. The course contains
all of the instructional elements contained in the Basic and Advanced courses.
At the conclusion a Combined CFOT and AFOT exam is administered.
Certified Fiber Optic Specialist - Splicing (CFOS/S) Enterprise and Premise
This course takes attendees to high levels of inside plant fusion splicing and
system installation and testing. The course is hands-on and very challenging!
Attendees build and test fiber optic enclosures employing a variety of
enclosures and splicing techniques, followed by system testing and
inspection. Everything attendees have previously learned about fiber optics
is put into practice during this course. At the conclusion a short certification
exam is administered.
Certified Fiber Optic Technician Outside Plant (CFospT)
This course takes attendees to high levels of outside plant fusion splicing and
system installation and testing. The course is hands-on and very challenging!
Attendees build and test fiber optic closures employing a variety of closures
and cables, followed by system testing and inspection. Everything attendees
have previously learned about fiber optics is put into practice during this
course. At the conclusion a short certification exam is administered.
