Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
This Basic Course combines the physics and science of fiber optics with
instruction on optical fiber transmission, cable construction, safety codes and
industry standards. Attendees will terminate and test multimode ST and SC
connectors. Attendees will be introduced to mechanical and fusion splicing
and the OTDR. At the conclusion an FOA approved CFOT certification exam is
administered.
Advanced Fiber Optic Technician (AFOT)
This Advanced Course is designed for technicians who desire more hands-on
training after their CFOT. Attendees will install fan-out kits on indoor/outdoor
cable and build a multimode LAN using SC connectors then test the network
using an OLTS and OTDR. Attendees will perform mechanical and fusion
splicing. At the conclusion an FOA approved AFOT certification exam is
administered. The prerequisite for this course is a current CFOT designation.
Combined Basic (CFOT) and Advanced (AFOT) Fiber Optic Training
This course is for technicians desiring to take both the CFOT and AFOT
courses in one sitting in order to maximize their skill set, earning power, and
save on training costs. Attendees are put through an intensive training
program with lots of hands-on learning. The course contains all of the
instructional elements contained in the Basic and Advanced courses. At the
conclusion an FOA approved Combined CFOT and AFOT certification exam is
administered.
Certified Fiber Optic Specialist - Fiber Optic Network Design (CFOS/D)
This course introduces telecommunications system designers to the many
facets of fiber optics network design. This course is very hands-on and very
challenging. Everything attendees have previously learned about fiber optics
is put into practice during this course. Attendees work with complex
connection systems, active devices and transceivers, case studies, and
perform inside and outside plant installations. At the conclusion an FOA
approved CFOS/D certification exam is administered.The prerequisite for this
course is a current CFOT designation.
Certified Fiber Outside Plant Technician (CFospT)
This course is for technicians desiring to learn about outside plant (OSP) fiber
optics, including outside plant fusion splicing and system installation and
testing. The course is very hands-on and very challenging! Attendees start
with the basics of fiber optics then rapidly progress into building and testing
fiber optic closures using a variety of closures and cables, followed by system
test and inspection. Everything attendees learn about outside plant fiber
optics is put into practice during this course. At the conclusion an FOA
approved CFospT certification exam is administered.
